Abstract

Abstract The latch is for a steam pressure cooker with a swivelling lid. It is fitted with a seal which rests on the edge of the vessel with the lid in the closed position. The latch consists of a locking hook with a linked attachment to the lid and a co-ordinated spring. After closing the lid, the locking hook fits into a projection on the edge of the cooker, from which it can only be detached by a hand-actuated lever. The locking hook (9) is fitted to a safety ledge, and has a linked connection with the lid (1). The safety ledge is held against the edge of the cooker by the pull force of a spring. The safety ledge is in operating contact with an unlocking plate held on the lid and actuated by the unlocking lever. The unlocking plate has a recess in which the hook is held when the lid (1) is in the locked position.
