Centrifugal pump with secondary impeller - fitted at back of main impeller with opposite suction and common discharge direction

Abstract

Abstract The pump has impeller (2) mounted in housing with suction connection (25). The impeller is keyed onto shaft (3) with its hub (19) and has an external diameter of (Dh). To the back of the impeller (3) a second impeller is fitted with suction opening (20) pointing in opposite direction of suction (2). The back plate of impeller (2) forms one of the surfaces for the second impeller discharge channels and the second surface is formed by plate (10) with suction spigot (18). The plate (10) of the secondary impeller has a number of radial vanes (9) fitted on its rear surface. The output of the channel (8) of the secondary impeller is larger than the output of the set of vanes (9). The external diameter of the secondary impeller is larger than that of the impeller (2).
