Abstract
Abstract The thread is provided at a tapered shank of the screw and each turn of the thread is constituted by a single segment having an arcuate length of less than two thirds, pref. less than one half, but greater than one quarter of the shank circumference. Above the tapered shank the screw has a parallel neck ending in a head and below the tapered shank the screw has a pointed conical end. The screw is driven into wood by hammer, and is secured by less than a single turn with a screw driver. A similarly short turn releases the screw again.
