Continuous lamination of thermoplastic foils - by looping foil and substrate under longitudinal tension around heated roll
Abstract
Abstract The foil and the substrate or fabric strip used to produce the laminated product are united under the influence of longitudinal tension and the action of heat, bonding taking place at a temp. at which tensile stress is produced. The components of the laminate pref. encircle the heated bonding roller for >=270 degrees C and the bonded laminated is drawn off the bonding roller onto a smaller take-off roller which has a higher circumferential rate of rotation so that the components are subjected to the same tensional forces. The bonded material is only withdrawn from the take-off roller which rotates in the opposite direction to the heated roller when it has cooled down. Minimal attention during bonding by the operator is required.
