Press for plastic forming metal tubes - has rotating tool with regulator and mandrel for holding tube blank
Abstract
Abstract The plastic forming of tubes with cylindrical bore is carried out by a mandrel and a pressure exerting roller acting on tube blank. This method is used for making of tubes from high quality steel and aluminium, and the tubes are formed after heat treatment into thin walled tubes. The forming process has an adaptive control system and a guiding template for controlling the tube outside profile. The arrangement has a measuring and regulating stage for sensing the deviations of the spindle torque or the feed force relative to a reference value. The drive is adjusted steplessly and the spindle of the mandrel is driven at constant speed. The feed rate can be regulated in relation to the adjusting signal.
