Abstract

Abstract Copper free dental gold alloys which do not discolour due to oxidation and attack of air after internal electrolytic reactions when in contact with saliva, containing alloying additions of Ag, Pd, Ir, In, Pt, Sn and Zn are prepared. These alloys are sufficiently hard and can be used in conjunction with dental porcelain. Hardness is found to be governed by the Pd content. Typical compositions are within the limits 65-85% au; 4-20% Ag; 2-10% Pd; 2-10% Pt; 2-4% In; 0.5-2% Zn; 0.5-2% Sn; 0.05-0.5% Ir.
