Abstract
Abstract A screw pump comprises a multi-thread hollow stator tube and a rotor, pref. single-thread, rotating therein; to accept the eccentric rotation of the rotor, it is connected to the driveshaft by a flexible coupling consisting of a torsion-resistant tube. Pref., the tube is reinforced by one, or two opposed, sets of helical reinforcement; to prevent it from collapsing inwards it may have helical internal coils, also acting as reinforcement, or an internal support tubef these may be of polyurethane. The arrangement avoids mechanical parts which have to be shielded from contact with the pumped material.
