Abstract
Abstract It includes a refractory phase containing alumina and a metallic binder selected from the iron group. It is equipped at least on its part subjected to wear with a protective covering in a refractory material, this covering forming a leaktight diffusion barrier and having a particle size less than that of the body of the article. It is thus possible to considerably improve the wear resistance and hence the service life of a cutting tool made from metal-ceramics.
