Two-stage jet pump
Abstract
Abstract The jet pump has a flow duct (13) for a medium to be accelerated, which duct is enclosed by a shell (19). In two successive radial planes (38, 57) there is one peripheral nozzle device (37, 55) each which has a continuous nozzle orifice running in the respective plane along the perimeter of the shell (19). The nozzle devices (37, 55) are designed in such a way that they eject a spray jet (40, 60) directed downstream, which in the absence of the medium in the flow duct (13) has the form of a conical shell, is composed of a propellant fed in, and whose apex (42) is located on the central axis (24). The semi-vertex angle (44) of the first upstream spray jet (40) in this arrangement is between 15 DEG and 45 DEG , that (61) of the second spray jet (60) between 3 DEG and 10 DEG . Furthermore, the apex (42) of the first spray jet (40) is situated at least approximately in the radial plane (57) of the second nozzle device (55). As a result, high efficiency of the pump can be achieved, disadvantageous boundary layers and turbulence being avoided in particular. The jet pump can be employed for pumping any medium or as a driving mechanism, e.g. for ships. <IMAGE>
