Solid iodine-contg germicidal detergents

Abstract

Abstract The compns. contain (a) 30-87% of an extender selected from polyoxyethyleneglcols of mol. wt. 200-6000 and their mixts., (b) 0.5-25% of a primary alcohol (where R is 10-18C satd. alkyl) or mixts. of such alcohols, (c) 3-20% of an iodophor selected from polyvinylpyrrolidone-iodine, nonylphenoxypoly(ethyleneoxy)ethanol-iodine, undecylium chloride-iodine and their mixts., and (d) 10-25% of a detergent selected from 14-18C alkyl fatty acid esters of Na isethionate, Na N-cyclohexyl-N-palmitoyl taurate, Na N-(fatty acid)-N-methyl taurate, Na N-methyl-N-palmitoyl taurate and their mixts., and Na lauryl sulphate. They are used for disinfacting the skin, treatment of acne and seborrhea, and also for disinfecting inanimate objects, e.g. for use in hospitals, kitchens etc.
