Abstract 1-Phenyl-2, 3, 4, 5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepin derivs. of formula (I): where W, X and Y are independently H, hydroxyl, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen; or two such adjoining groups may form together alkylenedioxy; A = phenyl, opt. substd. with >=1 halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or hydroxy; R = H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl (1-2C), alkenyl or benzyl; including acid-addition salts of (I); are prepd. by intramolecular condensation of a cpd. (II): where Q1 = H and Q2 = and Q2 = H, D = hydroxy or a reactive organic- or inorganic ester.
