Heater panel - of loaded plastic material sandwiched between insulating plastic sheeting
Abstract
Abstract The basic carrier layer which forms the resistive heater element is of a woven material, esp. glass fibre, impregnated with plastic and carbonaceous materials, or of plastic sheeting coated with a resistive film or of plastic material conductively loaded with carbonaceous material. Contact elements of conductive material are applied to opposite sides of the plate which extend over >60% or even over >100%, of that dimension perpendicular to the shortest distance between them. From these contacts lead-out wires pass through the envelope of insulating plastic material. Where plastic is used for the carrier layer it is esp. PTFE or polytrifluoromonochloroethylene. In the case of woven material, the contacts are esp. metal wires threaded through or woven in with the weave. Relatively cheap simple and reliable method of heating living spaces.
