Particle sepn process - by fluidisation and vibration

Abstract

Abstract Separation device has inlet for feeding mixt. onto a flat support, which is inclined to horizontal and permeable to gas, and is oscillated by carrier. An air current passes upwards through support and fluidises material, openings being provided along edge of unit to receive major and minor fractions of material. The direction of travel of major fraction is along a horizontal zone towards its outlet, whilst the minor fraction flows along a zone below this one, bounded by the line of fall from the inlet and a line of 45 degrees to it. Direction of oscillation of support is at an acute angle to this transfer direction.
