Abstract

Abstract ABSTRACT A process for the production of fiber reinforced flat bodies is described, wherein a water containing, flowable core layer is introduced between a substrate layer and a cover layer to form a three layer composite body with its own internal co-hesion wherein at least one of the outer layers comprises actively needle bondable fibers which are bonded together by needling so that the layers remain together in a deformable state; the water containing, flowable core layers may consist of mud masses, paper strips or shreds soaked in water to which glue may be added, but also of a raw ceramic mass, which is not only rein-forced by needling, but is simpler to manipulate.

Total Claims: 28
Claim 1
Independent Claim 78 words
A process for the production of fiber reinforced, flat bodies, comprising the steps of introducing a water containing flowable core as a layer between an outer substrate layer and an outer cover layer to form a three layer composite of which at least one of the outer layers comprises actively needle bondable fibers, and needle-bonding the three layer composite while said core is in the water containing state, so that the layers have coherence in a deformable condition.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 78 words
A process for the production of fiber reinforced, flat bodies, comprising the steps of introducing a water containing flowable core as a layer between an outer substrate layer and an outer cover layer to form a three layer composite of which at least one of the outer layers comprises actively needle bondable fibers, and needle-bonding the three layer composite while said core is in the water containing state, so that the layers have coherence in a deformable condition.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
A process according to claim 1, wherein the layers are needle bonded by means of holding fibers taken from the cover layer and the substrate layer.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
A process according to claim 1, wherein the holding fibers are inserted at an angle of less than 90° with respect to the place of extension of the body.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 29 words
A process according to claim 2, wherein the holding fibers are inserted at an angle of less than 90° with respect to the plane of extension of the body.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 35 words
A process according to claim 4, wherein the holding fibers are inserted both from the cover layer and from the substrate layer and they are aligned in a twisted manner with respect to each other.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
A process according to claim 1, including the step of forming orifices in said needle bonded composite body when still wet.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 11 words
A process according to claim 6, wherein the orifices are slits.
Claim 9
