Abstract
Abstract ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A long sheet material to be sterilized is passed through an atmosphere of H2O2 mist of low concentration and of droplet particle size of approximately 10 microns at room temperature for approximately one second and is then irradiated for approximately one second with ultraviolet-ray lamps positioned to irradiate opposite surfaces of the sheet material each at a dis-tance of approximately 20 mm therefrom, whereby the material is thoroughly sterilized as a result of the synergistic effect produced by the combination of these two sterilization steps.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
129 words
A process for sterilizing a material, com-prising: (a) applying onto the outer surfaces of the material at ambient temperature a thin film of about three micrometers of a one to five weight percent aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide, wherein 0.075 to 0.3 milligrams of the hydrogen peroxide solution are deposited per square centimeter of said outer surfaces by developing and adhering to said outer surfaces a mist comprising droplets of 2 to 100 micrometers particle size of said hydrogen peroxide solution; (b) irradiating the hydrogen peroxide solution coated outer surfaces with not less than 0.1 milliwatt?second per square centimeter of ultraviolet radiation; and (c) drying the irradiated material with asceptic hot air at a temperature between 80 and 120°C for a period of time between 3 and 10 seconds.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
45 words
The process defined in claim 1, wherein 0.15 to 0.3 milligrams of said hydrogen peroxide solution are deposited, said droplets have a particle size in the range of 10 to 50 micrometers and up to 50 milliwatt?second per square centimeter of ultraviolet radiation is used.
