Abstract

Abstract CODE SENSING SYSTEM Abstract of the Disclosure: A transition code processing system which includes a record member on which is located a plurali-ty of bar code symbols, each of which comprises a data channel and a clocking channel. The record member is inserted into a data terminal device and intermittently driven through a printing station in which a sensing member senses the data channel out of phase with the sensing of the clocking channel and generates signals in response thereto. A circuit coupled to the sensing member will process the generated signals and transmit the processed signals to a utilization device. Upon processing the signals representing the last bar code symbol on the record member, the circuit will generate a control signal for stopping the movement of the record member through the printing station, thereby conditioning the record member for a subsequent print-ing operation.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 94 words
An information bearing member adapted to be scanned by energy applied thereto comprising first and second coded symbols wherein the first coded symbol includes a first array of parallel bars of varying widths in which alternate bars are of different colors with the first and last bar being of the same color and the second coded symbol includes a second array of parallel bars of varying widths in which the alternate bars of said second array are of different color with the first and last bars of said second array being of different colors.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 94 words
An information bearing member adapted to be scanned by energy applied thereto comprising first and second coded symbols wherein the first coded symbol includes a first array of parallel bars of varying widths in which alternate bars are of different colors with the first and last bar being of the same color and the second coded symbol includes a second array of parallel bars of varying widths in which the alternate bars of said second array are of different color with the first and last bars of said second array being of different colors.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
The member of claim 1 in which said first and second coded symbols further include a third array of parallel bars of equal widths.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
The member of claim 2 which includes a plurality of first coded symbols and a second symbol in which the third array of bars of said first coded symbols are aligned in parallel with the first array.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 25 words
The member of claim 3 in which the third array of bars of said second coded symbol are aligned in parallel with the second array.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
The member of claim 4, in which the third array of bars are contiguous with the first and second array of bars.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
The member of claim 5, in which the first, second and third array of bars of said first and second coded symbols are black.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 34 words
The member of claim 6, in which the alternate bars of said first and second coded symbols are white, with the last bar of the second array of said second coded symbol being white.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 23 words
The member of claim 7, in which the first and last bars of the first array of said first coded symbols are black.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 27 words
The member of claim 8 in which the first bar of the second array of said second coded symbol is black and the last bar is white.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 28 words
The member of claim 9, in which the first and second arrays of said first and second coded symbols represents in coded form a plurality of data characters.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 46 words
The member of claim 10, in which the first bar of the first and second arrays of said first and second coded symbols is of the same color with the remaining bars of the first and second arrays representing the same data character having opposite colors.
