Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim
98 words
An input means for handwritten characters, figures or the like, comprising: a) transmitting and receiving fibers which are arranged towards the tip of a pen; b) a handwriting reading circuit which inputs optical signals from said receiving fiber using light-receiving elements and outputs electric signals indicating the hand-writing direction; c) a status signal generator which generates status signals; and d) a microcomputer which inputs the direction data from said handwriting reading circuit and the status signals from the status signal generator, and generates the character recognition data by the operation processing according to a programmed character recognition algorithm.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
51 words
An input means for handwritten characters, figures or the like according to claim 1, wherein said status signal generator generates the status signals comprising ready signals of the handwriting input, stroke signals indicating the connecting portion of characters, and character step sig-nals generated by the operation of a character step switch.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
34 words
An input means for handwritten characters, figures or the like according to claim 1, further comprising a condition key switch for generating condition signals which indicate the sorts of characters inputted to the computer.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
34 words
An input means for handwritten characters, figures or the like according to claim 2, further comprising a condition key switch for generating condition signals which indicate the sorts of characters inputted to the computer.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
33 words
An input means for handwritten characters, figures or the like according to claims 1 or 2, further comprising a monitor display for indicating the character data as a result of the operation processing.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
33 words
An input means for handwritten characters, figures or the like according to claims 3 or 4, further comprising a monitor display for indicating the character data as a result of the operation processing.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
104 words
An input means for handwritten characters, figures or the like, comprising: a) optical fibers which are attached to the side of a pen in the direction towards the tip thereof; b) an image sensor which is connected to the end of said optical fiber and detects the optical information trans-mitted from the optical fiber; c) a control circuit which generates electric signals by the scanning of said image sensor in both X and Y directions; d) a data processor which processes the signals from said control circuit and generates the character pattern in-formation; e) a memory which stores the character pattern in-formation in sequence.
