Abstract

Abstract ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A mobile air treatment device of the present inven-tion provides a compact mobile unit capable of providing a sufficiently high degree of air cleaning and filtering to permit air to be returned to atmosphere within a building within which a job site is housed. The device consists of an enclosure having first, second, third and fourth compart-ments formed therein and serially connected to one another to permit an air stream to flow through the compartments in sequence. An input passage opens into the first compartment through which contaminated air is admitted. A cyclone separator is located in the first compartment and serves to remove coarse particulate matter. An electrically acti-vated precipitator is located in the second compartment and is operable to effect precipitation of particulate material from the air stream as it passes through the second compart-ment. A series of supports are provided in the third compart-ment for removably supporting a plurality of filter elements. A discharge passage opens outwardly from the fourth compartment and a fan is located in the fourth compartment which is oper-able to draw contaminated air into the input passage and to cause air to stream through the first, second and third com-partments in series and to discharge through the outlet passage.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 173 words
A mobile air treatment device comprising: (a) an enclosure having first, second, third and fourth compartments formed therein, said compartments being serially connected to one another to permit an air stream to flow through said compartments in sequence, (b) an input passage opening into said first compartment through which contaminated air is admitted, (c) cyclone separator means in said first compartment and communicating with said second compartment for removing coarse particulate material from the contaminated air prior to admission to said second compartment, (d) electrically activated precipitator means in said second compartment operable to effect precipitation of particulate material from said air stream as it passes through said second compartment, (e) support means in said third compartment for removably supporting a plurality of filter elements, (f) a discharge passage opening outwardly from said fourth compartment, (g) fan means in said fourth compartment operable to draw contaminated air into said input passage and to cause air to stream through said first, second and third compartments in series and to discharge through said discharge passage.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 173 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
A mobile air treatment device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein said first and second compartments are disposed above said fourth and third compartments respectively such that the enclosure may have a compact configuration.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 39 words
A mobile air treatment device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein said fourth compartment has a bottom wall supported about ground level and said discharge passage opens through said bottom wall whereby air is discharged from below said device.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 34 words
A mobile air treatment device as claimed in Claim 1, 2 or 3 including charcoal filter means in said third compartment through which said air stream is drawn when passing through said third compartment.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 150 words
A mobile air treatment device as claimed in Claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein said first compartment has an inner wall at the interface of said first and second compartments, an outer wall disposed opposite said inner wall and side walls extending between said inner and outer walls, said cyclone separator including a tubular projection extending inwardly of said first compartment from said inner wall in a spaced relationship with respect to said side walls and said outer wall, cyclone passage means opening through said tubular projection into said second compartment to permit air to flow from said first compartment to said second compartment, said input passage means opening through one of said side walls and being arranged in relation to said tubular projection to establish a cyclonic flow of air thereabout to effect separation of coarse material from the air stream prior to its admission to said second compartment.
