Abstract

Abstract ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE. A light box for contact printing enlarging and the like comprising a light source with a continuously variable light filter, a matrix of optical fibres or bundles of optical fibres positioned such as to receive light transmitted by the filter and transmit the light to the printing surface, a means mounted in association with each fibre or bundle of fibres to control the amount of light transmitted through the fibre or bundle of fibres.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 89 words
A light box for contact printing, enlarging and the like, comprising a like source with a continually variable light filter, two matrices of optical fibres or bundles of optical fibres positioned such as to receive light transmitted by the filter and to transmit the light to the printing surface, one of such matrices being spaced apart from the other matrix, with the fibres in one matrix being aligned with the fibres in the other matrix and means to control the amount of light being disposed between the two matrices.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 89 words
A light box for contact printing, enlarging and the like, comprising a like source with a continually variable light filter, two matrices of optical fibres or bundles of optical fibres positioned such as to receive light transmitted by the filter and to transmit the light to the printing surface, one of such matrices being spaced apart from the other matrix, with the fibres in one matrix being aligned with the fibres in the other matrix and means to control the amount of light being disposed between the two matrices.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 38 words
A light box an claimed in claim 1 wherein the means to control the amount of light comprises a shutter which can be moved so as to completely or partially cover the associated fibre or bundle of fibres.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 43 words
A light box as claimed in claim 2 wherein the shutter is pivotally mounted for rotation about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of its associated fibre or bundle of fibres and is connected to an operating disc through a connecting rod.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 47 words
A light box as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein the end of the matrix of optical fibres or bundles of optical fibres adjacent the light source is formed to a part spherical surface with the centre of curvature being located at the light source.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 19 words
A light box as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein the light source is continuous dichroic filter.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 36 words
A light box as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein the light transmitted through the matrix of optical fibres or bundles of optical fibres is projecting onto a printing surface through a diffusion screen.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 25 words
A light box as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 including a monitoring device for electronically controlling the position of the light control means.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 56 words
A printing unit comprising a light box as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3 a printing surface onto the underside of which the light from the light box is directed, for moving the film to be printed over said surface and means for bringing the printing paper into position over the film on said surface.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 108 words
A printing unit comprising a light box as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3, a printing surface onto the under side of which the light from the light box is directed, means for moving film to be printed over said surface, and means for bringing a roll of printing paper into position over the film on said surface, and means for carrying the roll of printing paper in an inverted roll easel supported in a frame slidably mounted on tracks so that in one position the easel can be lowered into a light tight tray and in another position the easel can be lowered onto said printing surface.
