Moulding compsn. contg. heat hardening resin - glass micro-beads and filler, of defined granulometry
Abstract
Abstract A composite material contains (a) 5-50% of hollow or solid glass microbeads with (b) a complementary amt. of mineral, vegetables or recycled household or industrial waste or residue, as ash, and (c) less than 12% of heat-hardening resin, as a mixt. in which at least 40% of the material is below 100 mu.. Used as decoration or in construction is claimed. The compsn. is homogeneous and free from air bubbles, has a lower thermal peak (reducing cracking on hardening), does not crack on temp. change, has 10-50% lower density and lower coefft. of expansion, has fire resistance M1-M2 has greater rigidity, resistance to impact, abrasion and scratching and breaking coefft., and is elastic and dimensionally stable. It is easily finished. Tubes, rods or pins of metal, e.g. Al or PVC, can be incorporated, and the coefft. of expansion can be controlled to equal that of the reinforcement.(0/0)
