Abstract

Abstract Aqs. ClO2 solns. are obtained from solns. of alkali(ne earth) metal chlorite and HCl using a filled column into which the reactant mixts. are introduced into the bottom of an ascending circulation. The mixt. of reactants is formed by tangentially introducing them into an inverse cone shaped chamber immediately under the column, and separated therefrom by a perforated plate which supports the filler. The column has an expansion chamber downstream which prevents the formation of a gaseous phase at the column head by reducing the pressure between two injections.
